The 3 peaks pub crawl will take 6 days starting in Wales with Snowdon finishing in Scotland climbing Ben Nevis. Along the way we’ll be stopping mainly in our trusty campervan but will be supporting as many independent business as we possible!

Day 1 – 17th September 2021

Day 2 – 18th September 2021

We start at 8am leaving Wigan and cycle past Chorley and up towards Blackburn. We will have a pit stop at the rather wonderful Holmes Mill in Clitheroe before cycling to Settle for lunch and then up to Hawes and through to the Tan Hill inn. After getting out of the busy roads of Wigan, Chorley and Blackburn a beautiful but hilly ride into the Yorkshire Dales awaits!

Our destination for day two is our second pub of the trip and at 1732 ft the highest in England and also Great Britain, the Tan Hill Inn.

The Tan Hill Inn has been an Inn from as far back as the 17th Century and sits on the Pennine Way in the stunning Swaledale. Offering great food and some cracking beers it will be a welcome stop for the night…

Day 3 – 19th September 2021

We depart the Tan Hill Inn and head West towards the wonderful (but lumpy) Lake District, heading through Kirby Steven and the place with possibly the best motorway service station in England, Tebay! We then had to Windermere before grabbing some lunch in Ambleside to fuel us for what awaits.

Next we venture into the stunning Langdale Valley before we attempt to cycle (walk / crawl) up formidable Wrynose Pass and the legendary Hardknott Pass before heading on to Wasdale. We will then switch from cycling to hiking as we hope the legs still work as we climb Scafell Pike, finishing at Seathwaite.

Day 4 – 20th September 2021

We leave our campervan at 8am for a long day in the saddle with 100 miles ahead of us. We have a beautiful start to the day as we cycle past Derwent Water towards Keswick. It’s then up to Carlisle and Longtown where we will pay a visit to Longtown Primary School where I have spoken to the children in Mrs Kenyon’s class about adventures and challenges a couple of times previous.

We then have a good run until around 80 miles when we begin the long climb to the village of Wanlockhead and pub number 3, the Wanlockhead Inn and our stopping point for the day.

Day 5 – 21st September 2021

Day 5 is our longest in the saddle at 130 miles (unless we get dramatically lost!) but we have a pretty good run until around 90 miles when we have another tough few miles of climbing to Glen Coe on the edge of Loch Leven.

We’ll leave Wanlockhead at 7.30am and head up to Glasgow before cycling along the edge of Loch Lomond when the climbing starts as we reach the end of the Loch. It will then be mind over matter as we push on for the last 40 miles, knowing a short cycle awaits in the morning!

Day 6 – 22nd September 2021

We treat ourselves to a lie in as we start our final day of fun! We have a nice 16 mile cycle to Glen Nevis. We then switch to our hiking (crawling) gear and head up our final mountain of the challenge, Ben Nevis. On reaching the top it will be time for the obligatory photo before getting down as quickly as possible and focusing on rehydration and replacing carbs in the pub!

We head home on the Friday, hopefully taking less than the 6 days it took to get there!
